Spitalfieds have just launched their festival programme 2017, curated by André de Ridder, and I’m super happy to be performing at two of their events: “Schummann Street” and “House of Monteverdi”- details below. The whole festival sounds brilliant and I really recommend going to as many events as possible!
Schummann Street, Sat 9 and Sun 10 December
Schumann Street is an ambitious staging and (re)interpretation of Schumann’s iconic song cycle: Dichterliebe. Set across the stunning Huguenot Houses of Spitalfields, each of the 16 songs in Schumann’s cycle will be performed by a different artist drawn from a wide range of stylistic backgrounds including Bengali folk, rap, classical, soul and jazz.
Create your own path through this immersive song-cycle installation and experience intimate performances close-up. This is house music in its original form.

House of Monteverdi, Sat 2 December (with The Hermes Experiment)
Celebrating Monteverdi’s 450th anniversary, a stellar line-up of artists contrast authentic performances of the Renaissance master’s Eighth Book of Madrigals with groundbreaking modern works, premieres and re-interpretations.
Taking place over several hours this extraordinary marathon includes world premieres by French-British composer Josephine Stephenson, London premieres from our featured composer Icelandic Anna Thorvaldsdottir and a UK premiere from American composer Qasim Naqvi.
